The GM Diet Plan is supposed to be a week-long detox plan which also leads to considerable weight loss. As you can imagine, the attraction for most people is with weight loss rather than the detox. As a result, this diet has gained considerable traction in health circles.

Let’s start with understanding the different aspects of this diet. As mentioned earlier, the primary benefit of this diet plan s to detox. A useful side effect is weight loss. Firstly, this is a 7-day program. This program encourages the consumption of different food groups over the course of the week. However, the food is simple and easy to eat. Therefore, some people find the options bland and give in to cravings. As we discuss this diet plan, one fact must be kept in mind. The weight loss from this diet is very real but it is temporary. The GM diet plan should be used as a platform to start a journey to change one’s lifestyle. The aim should be to include more such food items in your daily routines to a lasting healthy lifestyle.

The different food groups for each day will be listed below for your quick reference.

Day 1

It is important to prepare your body for this diet plan. In order to do so, do not eat anything after 9 PM the night before. This gives your body time to go through a digestion cycle before the GM diet day 1. The first of the GM diet is all about fruits. You can eat as many fruits as you want so you don’t feel hungry. Citrus fruits are a good choice along with traditional favorites like Apples and Kiwi0.

You should plan your day as listed below:

  • breakfast: 1 medium apple or 1 bowl of mixed berries
  • snack: 1 bowl of cantaloupe or an orange
  • unch: 1 bowl of watermelon
  • snack: 1 orange
  • dinner: 1 pear or 1 bowl of kiwi
  • snack: 1 bowl of mixed berries

A quick note. Avoid bananas on the fruit days of the GM diet.

The above plan will help to plan your day so you don’t give in to cravings and make it to Day 2 of the GM diet.

Day 2 – Hello Veggies!

Day 2 of the GM diet is all about vegetables. You can follow the below plan to space out the food consumption during the day.

Day 2

Start the day with a sweet potato or baked potato, but limit potato intake to breakfast only. People can eat vegetables raw or cooked.

  • breakfast: 1 sweet potato or 1 baked potato
  • snack: 1 bowl of cabbage
  • lunch: a mixed salad containing lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and cucumber
  • snack: 1 bowl of steamed or raw broccoli
  • dinner: 1 bowl of kale or arugula with asparagus
  • snack: 1 bowl of sliced cucumbers

By the end of the second day, you may feel a little weak. However, you would be feeling much lighter as well. But don’t step on the scale just yet. Wait another day!

Day 3 – A Great Milestone

The 3rd day of the GM diet is a great milestone. Today you are almost halfway through the plan. And by the end of the day, you should be at least 2-3 kgs or 5-6 pounds lighter.

People can eat the same foods as days 1 and 2, avoiding bananas and potatoes.

  • breakfast: 1 apple or 1 bowl of watermelon
  • snack: 1 bowl of cherry tomatoes
  • lunch: a mixed salad
  • snack: 1 bowl of sliced cucumbers
  • dinner: 1 kale salad with carrots and cucumbers and 1 bowl of strawberries on the side
  • snack: 1 apple

Step on the weighing machine a couple of hours after your last meal and you will see the rewards of your efforts thus far. Great job!

Day 4 

Day 4 is going to be a bit of a challenge because you only get to eat two items. Bananas and milk. We load up on potassium and calcium.

Eat bananas either whole or in a smoothie with milk and ice. No other fruits or vegetables are allowed, but people can also eat wonder soup.

  • breakfast: 2 bananas and 1 glass of milk
  • snack: 1 smoothie containing banana and skim milk
  • lunch: 1 bowl of wonder soup
  • snack: 1 smoothie containing banana and skim milk
  • dinner: wonder soup and 1 banana

This routine will help space out the meals. However, you should be aware that you don’t give in to cravings because of the limited choices.

Day 5 is a protein day. Today you don’t go hungry at all because this a treat day. You can eat non-vegetarian foods like beef, chicken or fish along with tomatoes. Recommend making a quick sauce with the tomatoes for flavor.

Eat 20 ounces (oz) of either beef, chicken, or fish. Vegetarians can replace meat with cottage cheese or brown rice.

  • breakfast: 5–6 oz serving of meat and 2 whole tomatoes
  • lunch: 7–8 oz serving of meat with 2 whole tomatoes
  • dinner: 5–6 oz serving of meat with 2 whole tomatoes
  • snacks: wonder soup or freshly pressed tomato juice
  • an additional 4 cups of water

Day 6 of GM Diet Plan

Another treat day. We get to add more variety to the protein. Therefore, no hunger pangs. Eat 20 oz of meat and unlimited raw or cooked vegetables, excluding potatoes and tomatoes. Vegetarians can have cottage cheese or brown rice in place of meat.

  • breakfast: 5–6 oz serving of meat with 1 bowl of vegetables
  • lunch: 7–8 oz serving of meat with 1 bowl of vegetables
  • dinner: 5–6 oz serving of meat with wonder soup
  • snacks: wonder soup

Day 7

Eat fruit, vegetables, and brown rice. The diet plan for this day permits sugar-free juice.

  • breakfast: 1 bowl of brown rice and 1 orange or a bowl of watermelon
  • lunch: 1 bowl of brown rice and 1 glass of sugar-free fruit juice
  • dinner: 1 bowl of brown rice with 1 bowl of raw or cooked vegetables
  • snacks: berries, citrus fruits, or wonder soup

By the end of the week, you would feel very light. The hunger pangs won’t bother as much. As the detox completes, you would not have the hunger pangs and cravings would be settled. This makes for a great start to your healthy lifestyle journey. A nice benefit, you have now lost 5 kgs.
